For decades, countless photographers have been fascinated by vernacular photography, and in particular the "throw away" image.

Without any accompanying text or information, the story behind an image can become long forgotten, leaving the viewer to imagine a new context. Such images have often fascinated those who come across them as new objects.

In the digital age, these photographs will eventually cease to be collectable. They will no longer exist.

The "bad shot", the "extra shot", the "accidental shot" are now, more often than not, relegated to a computer's 'trash folder' or 'recycle bin' and later deleted permantently, never making it to the stage of being a physical object that cannot be erased from existence so easily.

This project is an attempt to collect these digital throw-aways, both my own (as I, too, am guilty of deleting too readily) and those of others, in the hope that they may eventually become as poignant as their physical counterparts.

All photographs are digital and submitted by those who took them, then posted online without any attached information.

This project will only continue as long as the submissions do, so if you have a photograph that you don't like, want or need, why not submit it here and let it take on a life of its own.
