The third track on the CD features the song Llanstephan Hill by Amory Kane. A bootleg copy of Kane's 1970 album Just To Be There, from which the song is taken, was displayed in the exhibition.
The song describes Llansteffan and its surroundings in particular detail. However, none of the village's current residents, including those who have lived in the village for decades, had heard of the song or its author before.
Kane has links to various well-known bands - Led Zeppelin being the most impressive amongst the villagers I spoke to. These bands have either recorded songs he wrote or played with Kane himself - for instance, Llanstephan Hill features Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull on bass. However, there is very little information available online that relates to Kane directly.
The villagers were instantly fascinated with Kane and his song, and this intrigue was the perfect way into the project, provoking visitors into thinking about the aural history of their environment differently.
The A-side of the record was played twice a day throughout the course of the exhibition.
